used in most 1989-1994 and some 1994-1997 year manufactured Audi cars

It's true for the mono-jet Volkswagen AG (or VAG: Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat) cars, although that interface is installed not on all the cars.
It must be on all cars equipped with Mono-Motronic (of any version) ECU and on all equipped with 096 automatic transmission.
It is not present on most old cars with Mono-Jetronic.
